How does CultureSwap work?

Register for CultureSwap and we will pair you with someone at another cultural institution in NYC. You and your partner will pick a day to spend at one another’s workplaces.

These “culture swaps” are scheduled at your convenience during the month of March 2019. In April 2019, there will be a group event for all CultureSwap participants to gather, discuss common themes, and learn from peers in the arts & culture world.

Who can participate?

CultureSwap is open to all staff working in cultural institutions in the New York City area, regardless of job title or institutional focus!

CultureSwap 2019 participants include staffers from all five boroughs. Organizations include Queens Museum, the Laundromat Project, the Guggenheim Museum, National Dance Institute, BAM, Roundabout Theater and many, many others.

Who runs CultureSwap?

Liz Gwinn from the Studio Museum and Adjoa Jones de Almeida from the Brooklyn Museum created and organized the first CultureSwap in 2018. It was part of their participation in the Catherine Hannah Behrend Fellowship, a year-long program for visual arts administrators managed by the staff of the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at 92nd Street Y.

It was such a success the 92Y Belfer Center decided to continue running the program. CultureSwap also received advice and support from its Advisory Committee.
